The large quantity and the quality of the findings stimulated the development of exhibition programs. Traditional Maghrebian building elements provided the basics for a clear architectural and conceptual design language in the fantastic natural landscape near to the marble mountains. Inside the museum of 1500 m² the visitors pathway leads through three different extensive, thematically separated exhibition halls 1. for geological and early history, 2. for marble exploitation, 3. for Roman history. They surround an open courtyard, which presents the anastylosis of the front of the Numidian Mountain-Sanctuary. The mounting of original marble blocks in the supporting concrete construction and the integration of artificial stone block copies in this structure was a big challenge and took nearly half of the building capacities. Furthermore, a round entrance hall and an audio/video room are situated in the building’s corners.
