A new campaign program for stabilization and slight supplementation was started in 2001. First, big parts of the western Unterburg wall, outside and inside, and the western staircase were stabilized. From 2011 till 2016 the stabilization of the tower and ramp at the east side of the Oberburg and of three corners of the western Palace fortification was completed.
Different technical methods had been applied, for example, to fill up joints and empty gaps inside of the 6 – 7 m wide cyclopean walls using extruder machines for sputtering in natural mixtures of sand and earth with high pressure to urge frictional adhesion inside the shattered wall structure. Hardly ruined wall parts had to be dismantled of the broken cyclopean blocks and re-erected again by fitting in new stone blocks for stability.
