The decision of an exhibition about the history of regional medieval castles, conditions of medieval life and building technologies had a political and cultural character. It was greatly supported by a binational program between the regional administrations alongside the borderline of Alsace and Süd-Pfalz.
This program provided a substantial contribution as financial support. The exhibition was installed in a modern hall, which also protects archeological medieval building relics. The construction of the hall was based on a prefabricated system of steel-beams covered by natural wooden sheathings.
Because of the limited access for transportation of heavy goods the montage was executed by helicopter. An Inox-steel-newel-staircase connects two wooden exhibition galleries. Big vertical windows and a huge 12m roof light allow natural illumination inside the hall.
