Because of ground and weather conditions, considerable damage had occurred to the substance of the original relics, especially the layers of ceramic bricks are at risk of decomposing because of frost damage. After cleaning off the pillar surfaces, first attempts of conservation had been undertaken in 2002 by spouting of special lime mortar with high pressure onto the damaged surface to create a protecting layer. A more effective result of sustainability and stability was achieved during the second period of conservation works in 2008/9 by traditional manual brickwork done by experienced masons. First, they deeply cleaned the original substance from any biological matter and then applied the appropriate mixture of special lime mortar by hand.
