Athens Kerameikos

Kerameikos is an archeological park with a size of 3,85 hectare in the heart of the Greek capital. The site is visited annually by ca. 130.000 tourist from all over the world. In addition to the outstanding historical value of the features of the Kerameikos, it presents a representative profile of structures of the ancient Athens in a comparatively small area. The two most important city gates are located on the site of Kerameikos. From here the Holy Road leads to Eleusis. This road of Kerameikos establishes a connection to Plato’s academy.

Along the arterial roads a lot of state graves line up. Chronologically they document the era of the 5th century till the late antiquity and shape todays image of features.
