Many of the historic monuments of the Kreameikos are at risk of greater loss of substance as big as whole blocs, collapse of walls and danger of falling parts, which threatens the safety of visitors. Besides the presentation of the monuments requires improvements.
In 2012 our office started implementing and supervising safeguarding measures on immediate endangered structures. To secure the surfaces of the damaged stones, methods and formulas were developed in close cooperation with Greek authorities and institutions. The safeguardiung measures need to be continued. In parallel a long-term restoration concept must be worked out in order to achieve the overarching objective of the preservation of the features of the site and of improvement of their presentation.
