The study examines ways to tackle the deficits in maintenance and park design as well as to develop the Kerameikos to a modern archeological park. The study is considered a preparatory step for an installation of a sustainable and long-term site management plan (SMP).

It is based on an examination of the whole area regarding the preservation aspects of the historical monuments. The imparting of findings as wells as the demand for a suitable design are being faced.

Thus, an overarching concept for the whole area could be developed which targets conservational solutions in addition to aspects of visitor guidance, didactic preparation and design.
