The building history started with a Roman temple surrounded by a porticus. With the Christianization the temple was destroyed and different buildings like a big basilica, and a baptistery, were erected. Massive changes occurred in the Byzantine period and after the Islamic conquest vast destruction some slight medieval settlement could be verified. The presentation concept, based on didactical principles, aimed at a conservation of the ruined foundation zone of the Roman temple basis and some complementation measures in parts of the pedestal and entry staircase. The outside line of the Porticus is marked by a waist-high dry masonry wall. The blocks are created by artificial stone of similar color like the original limestones. Some copies of original blocs like corniches or columns were added. The presentation of later historic building structures must wait until new excavation results of these building elements can be documented. On the Podium information panels illustrate the historical situation and chronology of the ancient building structures.
